The maker of Levis trusted name brand jeans is considering a new market and desires an agency to help introduce Levi’s Footwear, the jean shoes collection. Stride Rite Corp is looking to license the new product line and has recently mailed out a letter to help in the selection of the agencies willing to discuss producing this new line of footwear. Levis shoes may have a chance. With Levis being one of the most respected jean companies in the world they should have what it takes to back this new line with full support. Stride Rite and Levi Strauss & Company did develop a strong advertising launch plan over the period of 1998 to 2000. Sources estimated the cost would be around $5 billion dollars to launch this new product in Levis shoes fashion.
The correspondence that was sent out was also to explain that the product launch itself would be directed to male consumers who fell between the ages of 15 and 22. The company says it may eventually do some research into jean shoes for women and children but for now their focus is the younger new generation of men. Stride Rite does have a Keds brand shoe that is handled by Foote, Cone and Belding, a San Francisco based company who also manages Levi’s jeans account.
The relationship between the two companies has not been affected by this new line. Hopefully we will get to see Levis shoes emerge as a new and upcoming shoe fashion business. They Levi’s is known to produce quality and durable merchandise that has gotten them to where they are today. Levi Strauss shoes could very well end up being one of the top leaders in the shoe industry once they have broken in their company, worked out all of the new company kinks and settled down work out the ins and outs Levi’s shoes. The industry can always use a new brand that comes with the quality promise that all Levi’s jeans have come with for many years.
